Fact Check: Viral Video Claimed To Be from Arunachal Pradesh Actually Shows Landslide In Jammu And Kashmir

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Amid ongoing heavy rains and flood-like conditions in several parts of India, a video showing a landslide is being widely shared on social media, with claims that it occurred in Arunachal Pradesh.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be misleading. The video actually shows a landslide that occurred earlier in the Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir.
What is in the viral post
Facebook user Dom Videos (archived link) shared the video on June 2, 2025, and claimed that it features a landslide in Arunachal Pradesh.
Investigation
Starting the investigation, Vishvas News conducted a Google reverse image search of the screenshots from the viral video. This led us to a video uploaded on a Facebook page, Kashmir Samachar. The user shared the video, with the caption: “SHO Vikram Parihar narrowly escapes from sudden landslide in Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar Highway.”
Another Facebook page, Unique Voice News, uploaded the video on May 9, 2025, with the same claim. The caption also identified the officer as SHO Parihar.
We directly contacted Vikram Singh Parihar, who confirmed that he is the person in the video and that the incident occurred in Ramban.
Severe devastation in Arunachal Pradesh due to floods and landslides
Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed multiple reports of flash floods and landslides triggered by continuous heavy rainfall. According to an Arunachal Times report published on June 4, 2025, these natural calamities have caused widespread devastation across the state. Over 33,000 people in 24 districts have been affected by this disaster, severely disrupting daily life. As per the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) report, at least 12 lives have been lost in flood and landslide-related incidents this monsoon season so far. Read the full story here.
At the end of the investigation, we checked the profile of the Facebook user Dom Videos who shared the misleading post and found that the user has around 400 followers.
