Investigation
To verify the viral video, we extracted key frames and searched them using Google Lens. This led us to the Instagram handle patialaexpress82, uploaded on August 12, 2025. However, no additional information has been provided in the post.

Using the keyword search, we found a related news video on the YouTube channel of Punjab News, which also included viral CCTV footage. According to the report, the incident took place in Khanna, Punjab, where advocate Kultar Singh, his wife Manpreet Kaur, and his mother Sharanjit Kaur, residents of Kapila Colony, were attacked with a sword by their neighbour Billu. All three victims are undergoing treatment in the hospital, and the Samrala police have registered a case.
News about this incident was also reported by The Tribune, which stated that neighbours described the accused, Billu, as a drug addict who had previously quarrelled with the victim on multiple occasions.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Surinder Singh alias Billu had attacked Kultar.
We contacted Dainik Jagran reporter Manish in Samrala. He stated the accused Billu was a drug addict and was upset about the CCTV camera installed outside Kultar Singh’s house. He had previously quarrelled with the victim over this issue. The accused is not a Muslim.
The X user who shared the video with the false claim is influenced by a specific ideology.
