Fact Check: Viral Video Of Alleged Police Misconduct During Noida Protest Is From Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Factory workers in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, are on strike demanding a wage increase and are protesting on the streets. In connection with this, a video is rapidly going viral, in which police can be seen beating a man and then arresting him and putting him in a vehicle. This video is being shared with the claim that it shows police mistreating workers during a protest in Noida.
Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim is false. The viral video is not from Noida, but from Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, where a young man was causing a ruckus while intoxicated.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Neha Supporters Hub’ shared the viral video on April 14, 2026, with the caption, “Employees in Noida are on strike, the government is crushing their just demands so mercilessly! Noida DM is the daughter of our Gyanesh ji, will any action be taken against such policemen?”

Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we extracted several key frames from the video and conducted a Google reverse image search. This led us to the viral video on a YouTube channel called ‘VIRAT 24 NEWS’, uploaded on April 11, 2026. According to available information, the video is from Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, where a drunk youth created a ruckus and then got into a scuffle with the police.
Based on the information we received, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords and found a report on the Dainik Bhaskar website that contained the claim, published three days ago. According to the report, “In the Budhar police station area of Shahdol district, a drunk youth created a ruckus at an electronics shop. He vandalized the shop and created a commotion. Police arrived and detained him, but a video of the police kicking the youth went viral.”
We also found a related report in the e-paper Nayi Duniya. Here also, the incident is said to have taken place in the Budhar police station area of Shahdol district.
The Uttar Pradesh Police also refuted the claim in a post from its official account. Sharing a post dated April 14, 2026, the UP Police wrote in the caption, “A video of a youth creating a ruckus while intoxicated in the Budhar police station area of Shahdol district in Madhya Pradesh is being circulated on certain social media accounts, misleadingly claiming it to be from Gautam Buddha Nagar district. This is completely false and misleading. All citizens are requested to verify the authenticity of any information/video before sharing it.”
For more information, we contacted Vinod Kumar Shukla, Bureau Chief of Nayi Duniya, Shahdol, who confirmed, “This incident occurred about five days ago. At Jaitpur intersection in the Budhar police station area of Shahdol, a drunk youth entered an electronics shop and vandalised it. This led to a traffic jam. Police were then called. When the police arrived, the youth began arguing with them. While the police were taking him away, a policeman kicked him and forced him into a vehicle. A video of this incident went viral.”
What is the context?
According to a report published on Dainik Jagran’s website on April 13, 2026, “The factory workers are protesting for wage increases and other demands. During the protest, workers vandalised several factories, including the Madrasan Group, creating a ruckus. Police fired tear gas shells to control the situation, but the protesters then attacked a police vehicle with sticks and stones, overturning it. Police vehicles were also set on fire.”
According to a report published in the Indian Express on April 14, 2026, “Police officials said that the Noida police have identified more than 50 bot handles that were created before the protests and were used to spread rumours.” According to news reports, the police have so far arrested more than 350 people in connection with the violence that took place during the Noida protests.
Lastly, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the video with the false claim and found that the user has over four lakh followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the claim regarding a video of police mistreating a man is false. The viral video is not from the Noida protest, but from Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, where an intoxicated young man was causing a commotion. The viral video shows the man being arrested.
