Fact Check: Not a Mosque Demolition In Uttarakhand But An Amusement Park In Indonesia, Video Goes Viral With Fake Claim

New Delhi (Vishvas News). The month of Ramzan has seen a spurt in religious misinformation. Now, a video of the demolition of a green building resembling a mosque is becoming increasingly viral on social media. The video is being shared with the claim that a mosque was demolished in Uttarakhand.

Vishvas News found in its investigation that the viral claim is false. In fact, the video has no connection with India. The building seen in the video is not a mosque, but a section of the amusement park Hibiscus Fantasy Puncak in Indonesia’s West Java. The video of the demolition from that amusement park is being shared with a fake and provocative communal claim.

What is going viral?

Facebook user ‘Vicky Koli’ (Archive link) shared the viral video and wrote in the caption, “Received a soothing video from Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Now only Mahadev, the God of Gods.”

Investigation

To find out the truth of the viral claim, we extracted several key frames from the video and searched them with the help of the reverse image technique using Google Lens. We found a longer version of the viral video on a YouTube channel named ‘New Persian Official’. The video was uploaded on March 10, 2025. According to the information given, the viral video is of Hibisk Fantasy Puncak from Indonesia.

Based on the information received, we searched on the web with the help of relevant keywords. We found a report related to the claim on CNN’s Indonesian news website. The report was published on March 11, 2025. According to this report written in Indonesian language, East Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi had ordered the demolition of Indonesia’s amusement park Hibiscus Fantasy Puncak.

We found a longer version of the claim on Indonesian YouTube channel Kompas.com. At 18 second counter in the video, the building in the viral video can be seen. The information provided also identifies the location as the amusement park Hibisk Fantasy Puncak. The owners of the park were accused of violating the law while building it. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi had ordered it to be demolished.

During investigation, we found the official Instagram page of Hibisk Fantasy Punchak. We found a video uploaded on January 23, 2025. The building from the viral video can be seen in the video.

For more information, we contacted Dainik Jagran’s Dehradun-based journalist, Sunil Negi. “The viral video is not from anywhere in the state,” he confirmed. Negi added that the state government had issued orders to seal illegal madrasas (religious schools), but no orders to demolish them have been issues so far.

Finally, we scanned the account of the user who shared the video with the false claim. We found that the user has around 6000 followers. The user has described himself as a resident of Delhi on his profile and often shares posts related to an ideology.

Conclusion: Vishvas News found in its investigation that the claim of a mosque being demolished in Uttarakhand with an accompanying video, is false. The video being circulated has no connection with India. The building seen in the video is not a mosque, but part of an amusement park in Indonesia’s West Java.
