Fact Check: Senior Police Officer Did Not Call The Delhi Blast A CNG Explosion

Following the November 10, 2025, explosion in New Delhi, now officially classified by the central government as a terrorist attack, a social media post is circulating that claims Delhi Police’s Special CP (Law and Order) Ravindra Yadav dismissed the deadly blast near the Red Fort Metro station as a simple CNG cylinder explosion.
The Vishvas News team investigated the matter and found it to be completely false and baseless. The central government has already declared it a terrorist attack. Additionally, agencies like the NIA are investigating the entire attack. Several people have been detained across the country in connection with the case.
What’s in the viral post?
Sharing the viral post on November 11, 2025, Facebook user Chand Mohammad (archived version) wrote, “The explosion at Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro was an unfortunate CNG cylinder explosion, not a terrorist attack! Special CP Ravindra Yadav (Law and Order) has confirmed this! Without any result, hate-mongers have started taunting Muslims! Social media is flooded with similar posts.”
Investigation
Vishvas News first used Google’s Open Search tool to verify the claim made in the viral post. No related reports attributed to Yadav corroborated the viral claim. If he had made such a statement, it would have been widely reported in the media.
Continuing our investigation, we scanned the PIB Fact Check handle. In a November 11, 2025, post, the PIB declared the viral post fake, stating, “No Delhi Police officer has made such a statement. Please be cautious. Do not share any unverified information. Trust only information from authentic and official sources.”
Vishvas News contacted Rakesh Kumar Singh, a crime reporter with Dainik Jagran, Delhi, regarding the viral post, who confirmed that it was a terrorist attack. The initial investigation looked at every angle, but now, based on forensic reports and other evidence, it is clear that the blast was not a CNG cylinder explosion. Yadav has not made any statement like the viral post.
Ravindra Yadav himself confirmed to Vishvas News that the viral post was fake.
The user Chand Mohammad, who shared the viral post, has 52000 followers and identifies as a resident of Siwan, Bihar.
