New Delhi (Vishvas News): Several terrorists have been killed in the military action under ‘Operation Sindoor’. At the same time, pictures of funeral prayers for these terrorists are going viral on social media and news websites. Among them, one particular picture is being shared in which Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir are seen carrying a coffin. Users are sharing this picture with claims that this picture is of the funeral of the terrorist killed in ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be fake. This picture has no connection to ‘Operation Sindoor’. This photo dates back to November 2024, when Shahbaz Sharif and Asim Munir attended the funeral of security personnel.
What is in the viral post?
The Facebook user posted the viral post on May 12, 2025, with the caption, “The best picture of the day, we want to see such a picture every day. Guess who will be in this coffin.”

Investigation
To begin our investigation, we conducted a Google Lens search of the viral video. This led us to a news article on the Aaj TV website. According to the report dated November 26, 2024, “Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir attended the funeral prayers of the security personnel killed during the protest.”
Further searches based on this information led us to a related report on the Dawn News website. In an article dated November 27, 2024, it was reported, “Three soldiers of Sialkot Rangers died in a road accident, which some people are considering as a hit-and-run. The government says that it was the result of violence by PTI protesters, while the opposition is calling it a normal road accident. The police have arrested the driver, whose car collided with the soldiers standing at the signal in the dark. The names of the deceased soldiers are Naik Mohammad Ramzan, Sepoy Gulfam Khan and Sepoy Shahnawaz. Legal action is being taken in this case. At the same time, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir attended the funeral of the martyred soldiers.” The full news can be read here.
Vishvas News contacted Pakistani journalist Naveed Akbar during the investigation and shared the viral post with him. Akbar, who had reported on the matter for ‘Aaj TV’, confirmed to Vishvas News that “The viral picture is old., it is related to the security personnel who died in the year 2024.”
A Hindustan Times report dated May 12, 2025, quoted ANI as, “Top Pakistani officials were among those who attended the funeral of terrorists killed in India’s action under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7.”
According to a Dainik Jagran report dated May 12, 2025, “When questions were raised about Hafiz Abdul Rauf, who led the funeral prayers of the terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor conducted by India, Pakistan described him as a “simple family man”, but India called it false propaganda. In the pictures released by India, it can be seen that many top officers of the Pakistani army are standing behind Rauf and the coffin with the Pakistani flag hoisted on it, giving him the status of a martyr, is visible. India says that this clearly shows that Pakistan gives institutional support to terrorism.”
The Times of India report dated May 12, 2025 quoted ANI stated, “According to Indian officials, the funeral of the terrorists killed in Muridke was led by Lashkar commander Abdul Rauf, who has been declared a specially designated global terrorist by the US. Senior Pakistani military officials and Punjab Inspector General of Police were present at the funeral. Those present included Lieutenant General Fayaz Hussain, Major General Rao Imran, Brigadier Mohammad Furqan from the administration, Pakistan Punjab MLAs Usman Anwar and Malik Sohaib Ahmed.”
Next, we conducted a social media scan of the Facebook page ‘Bajrang Dal’, which shared the fake post. The page has around 36000 followers and regularly shares ideologically driven content.
