New Delhi (Vishvas News). A photo of former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is being shared on social media with rumours of his assassination. In the photo, he can be seen lying down.

Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral photo is not recent, but dates back to 2014, when Imran Khan himself shared this photo on his official X account, claiming it was from a protest. This same old photo is now being shared with false claims. While we cannot confirm his assassination, the viral photo appears to be old.

What is going viral?

Facebook user ‘ Pari Patel ‘ shared the viral photo on November 27, 2025, with the caption, “Big Big Breaking News…Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan…has been murdered in jail by the Pak Army.”

Investigation

To verify the authenticity of the viral image, we performed a Google reverse image search. This led us to a report by the website ‘Belfast Telegraph’, published on November 3, 2022. The image in the report is said to be from the aftermath of an attack on Imran Khan.

For further verification, we checked Imran’s official social media accounts. As his social media accounts are not accessible in India, we scanned his official X handle using ExpressVPN. We found the viral photo dated August 17, 2014, shared by the account ‘@Amnakhansays’. The caption states that the photo was taken during a night-long protest. In the image, Imran is seen lying down and talking to supporters seated around him.

According to a Navbharat Times report dated November 26, 2025, “Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since 2023, but rumours of his assassination are currently spreading rapidly in Pakistan. The Pakistani army and government are accused of torturing him in prison. However, no one is being allowed to meet him, further fueling the rumours. On Tuesday night (November 25), Imran Khan’s sisters, Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan, were dragged out of the prison and beaten. PTI workers are demanding to meet Imran Khan at any cost, while the Pakistani government is dismissing reports of his death as a rumour. Afghan media claimed on Wednesday that former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been murdered in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.”

NDTV ‘s report dated November 26, 2025, stated, “Imran Khan’s sisters allege that the police mistreated them when they asked to be allowed to meet their brother. Imran Khan’s sisters, Noorin Khan, Aleem Khan, and Uzma Khan, have claimed that the police even beat them. Amidst these rumours, a large number of Imran Khan’s supporters gathered outside the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, raising slogans against the current government. During this protest, Imran Khan’s supporters were also seen demanding information about their leader.”

Hindustan Times website on November 27, 2025, reported, “Adiala Jail administration has denied the claim of Imran Khan’s death, calling it baseless. They also stated that he is in good health.”

Imran Khan’s party, the PTI, also responded to the viral claim through a post on its official X account, dated November 27, 2025. In the statement, the party urged the Pakistani government to allow his family to meet him and address the rumours circulating about his death.

We also contacted Pakistani journalist Farwa Waheed for verification. She confirmed that the viral image is old.

Our findings show that the viral photo of Imran is not recent and is unrelated to current events. However, there is no verified information to support claims about his death.

Finally, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the misleading claim and found that the user has 2800 followers.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral photo of Imran Khan is not recent, dating back to 2014. Imran Khan himself shared this photo on his official X account in 2014, claiming it was from a protest. An old photo of Imran is being shared with false claims. While we cannot confirm his assassination, the viral photo appears to be old.
