Fact Check: Viral Video Of Pakistani PM Conceding Defeat To India Is AI-Generated
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the audio of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the viral video is not real but has been created using AI.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Amidst ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, a video is going viral on social media, allegedly showing Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif admitting defeat to India and expressing despair over international isolation.
Vishvas News investigated the claim and found it to be false. The video is a deepfake, and the audio attributed to Sharif has been AI-generated.
What is viral?
Facebook user Ashu Mishra shared the viral video (archive link) on May 11, 2025, where Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif can be heard saying, “My dear countrymen, today I am going to tell you a very serious and painful truth. We are retreating in the ongoing war with India, our army is fighting bravely but the lack of missiles, political isolation and the strength of the enemy have put us in trouble. It is sad to say that apart from Turkey, no country has stood with us. Neither the Arab world, nor China, nor any other powerful country. Everyone has ignored us. My heart is very heavy when I say that if the situation remains the same, then soon Pakistan can be captured by the enemy.”
While sharing the video, the user captioned it, “Our country is not capable of fighting India – Prime Minister Pakistan.”
Investigation
To investigate this post, we first conducted a keyword search and found no authentic report confirming that Shehbaz Sharif has publicly accepted defeat.
A reverse image search led us to a video uploaded by Al Arabiya (Saudi Arabia’s state-run Arabic news outlet) on May 8, 2025, where Sharif is seen wearing the same clothes seen in the viral clip.
Our investigation with related keywords led us to many news reports of May 7, 2025, which had details of Sharif’s speech. There was no mention of what was said in the viral video anywhere.
Upon analysing closely, we observed that Sharif’s lip movements appear slightly blurred in the viral video, indicating a potential sign of manipulation.
We contacted our partner, Deepfake Analysis Unit (DAU), an initiative of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), regarding the viral clip. DAU’s expert team analysed the audio using AI detection tools Hiya, Deepfake-O-Meter, Hive, and ElevenLabs Classifier. All of them indicated the possibility of the audio track being AI-generated.
We also spoke to Azahar Machwe, a researcher specialising in AI and emerging technology, who confirmed that the audio has been AI-created.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India retaliated by conducting air strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor,’ targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Amid rising tensions, several fake narratives are being circulated online. Vishvas News continues to investigate and debunk these claims, which can be accessed here.
The Facebook user, Ashu Mishra, who shared the viral video, has over 2000 followers.
