Fact Check: Viral video of dog rescue is not from Turkey earthquake, shared with misleading claim

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Ever since the devastating earthquake hit Turkey and Syria, various types of fake videos and pictures are going viral on social media with false claims. A video is going viral on the internet with claims that a man has saved some puppies buried under the debris of a building in Turkey. In the video, a man can be seen rescuing the puppies.

Vishvas News fact-checked the viral post and found that the video is being shared with a misleading claim. Vishvas News team found that the video has nothing to do with the earthquake and is an old video shot in Rajasthan’s Udaipur.


Facebook user Khair Mohammed posted the video on February 8, and captioned the post, “The dog’s child was buried under the ruins after earthquake.” Believing the post’s claim to be true, other users are also sharing the viral video.


Vishvas News first took the help of online tools to verify the authenticity of the viral video. For this, several grabs were extracted by uploading the viral video in the Invid tool. Then they were searched with the help of the Google lens tool. During the search, the original video was found on a Facebook page named Animal Aid Unlimited.

Uploading the original video on August 28, 2019, the page wrote that they received a call that a dog was crying continuously in a locality in Udaipur. A person was sent on behalf of the institution to check on the dog. It was learned that the puppies of the dog were buried under the debris of a building which collapsed in the city. The puppies were saved after hours of rescue operation by the man sent by Animal Aid Unlimited. The video was uploaded on the YouTube page of Animal Aid Unlimited three years ago.

Taking the investigation further, Vishvas News contacted Subhash Sharma, correspondent of Dainik Jagran, Udaipur and shared the viral video with him. He said that the viral video is about three years old. Even at that time, this video had become quite viral. This is a video from Udaipur.

At the end of the investigation, the user who posted the fake post was investigated. Social scanning of Facebook user Khair Mohammad revealed that the user is from Pakistan and his account was created in October 2015.

Conclusion: Vishvas News team found that the viral video is not from Turkey and is being shared with a misleading claim.
